an la evening part one
I went to LA last night with the Boyfriend and his two buddies. It was quite a full-spectrum night. Roy to the G to the Biv!
First stop, we saw Seun Kuti & Egypt 80, part of the outdoor Grand Performance outdoor summer series. Seun is one of the sons of the mighty Fela Kuti, Nigerian legend.
Boyfriend packed a fabulous picnic and a whole lotta wine (an important plot point.)
The venue was super swank — projections, lights, even fountains doing the “dancing waters” thing as Seun brought the house down with his addictive Afro Beat.
Photo stolen from the boyfriend, who had an adorable mancrush on Seun, a man indeed worthy of any kind of crush. He was nonstop on stage, dancing, sax-ing, shirt-doffing and singing for hours.
On our end there was also dancing, no shirt-doffing, but some making out. Did you remember the wine drinking plot point? Wine drinking from crazy glasses!
The night doesn’t even get close to ending with the end of this show. Stayed tuned for part two! Here’s a taste of things to come, brought to you by my boyfriend’s friend Ray.
Hoo boy, hold onto your hats.
Intrigued, especially by the wholelottawine part.
Roy to the G to the biv is my new favorite phrase, incorporating as it does my love of rainbows and my obvious OG status. I like where this post is going!
