Christmas poem

Ashtabula Ohio Ice Storm

I wrote the following in my journal, at age 16, on Christmas day. I feel quite sure I did not create it, but I can find no reference to any of the lines online. If anyone is a piece-holder to the puzzle, please let me know. It’s quite lovely and it’s my happy holidays to you.

“Onion, my friend”,
I said, as I looked at the
moon-lit sky,
“I recognize only you of my many friends who
lurk up there,”
waiting for me to acknowledge — to love.
The moon is not of full passion,
but not waned past, too.
As I see this milky way
on this Christmas night,
I can only think of you.
The iciness of the water
does not freeze my feet,
I can only feel the love
which emanates, which feels my presence,
which realizes another Christmas, as the stars move and linger.
