craft corner (such as it is)
I have not created something with my hands in months. Months! I can blame my small area craft community’s drifting apart, or my move, or my caregiving duties … so I will. Darn you, other people and/or geography, for stopping me from crafting!
I actually used the ol’ sewing machine yesterday; imagine me pulling it out of a dark attic and comically blowing a giant puff of dust off it. I was too sick to go to work, but could be productive at home as long as I could do a task for 5 minutes then nap for 20. Ugh. Anyway, I’m carrying on, determined to be well by the time I catch my plane (I’m going on a trip!) on Sunday.
I bought a travel pillow, as I always do, since I leave every travel pillow behind on every trip I ever take. Sigh. This one’s a goody, and I hope it makes it back with me — faux down, firm yet squishy. I actually took one of my 125 naps with it yesterday.
So it needed a pillowcase. Amongst the sheets in the linen closet I found some nice old cases that my mom bought eons ago — soft cotton, high thread count — but they were super shabby.
So: ka-bang, stuffed the pillow in and penciled rudimentary guidelines. And ka-pow, ran the stitches using the brown thread already in the machine (so lazy). And ka-flooey, ran a decorative embroidery stitch to make it look a little less remedial.
