probing the slumping – and giveaway!
Hi. Now that I’m sliding downhill towards the inevitability of getting on an airplane, experiencing low temperatures, feeling gypped by Santa, and dispensing with sensible eating, I have found a certain calmness within the chaos.
I have not shared here the various difficulties of the past few weeks, but they have been Difficult. Poop of varying degrees of seriousness, thrown right into that fan.
I can’t/won’t go into detail, but here’s an approximate Breakdown of What’s Worrying Becky:
- 26%: illnesses (not mine)
- 19%: accidents (not mine)
- 15.5%: bureaucracy/administration/coordination
- 10%: This Awful Weather (which is causing my car roof to leak, which, wow, is so not a good thing; and it’s the reason that I missed a holiday party which is a very bad thing)
- 9%: lady issues
- 8%: disappointing behavior by certain suitors
- 8%: holiday malaise and impending parental demise anniversary
- 4.5%: the various issues surrounding packing/plane travel/bitterly cold weather
But, like I said, now I’m just ridin’ the river, the rainy, slidy, pothole-y river, down, down towards 100% certainty that the holidays are nigh.
I have been enjoying these giveaways. So here goes!

Update: I have arbitrarily closed the giveaway a whole day early. Winners, you will be notified.
Becky,
I’d hoped to meet you at a certain holiday party so I share your bummed-outness about the car roof. I love that you are putting aside your frown with these giveaways and making someone else’s day – what a lovely way to move through the world. I have no fancy wallet covers to give away, but I’ll look for some way to pass this spirit on today. Thanks.
I thought it would cheer you to see my favorite crafty UofAz friends in the Ugliest Christmas Vests Ever!

Well my link shows how I am feeling about this time of year. Having a child with a birthday on the 20th of December doesn’t help with the mayhem, along with the stress of thinking that I can throw an awesome Christmas Eve Open House. Upon realizing that people are depending on your event for their Christmas Eve only adds to the stress. Let’s talk deviled eggs shall we? If you make them too soon, they become nasty and dry. If you wait until party day your house then smells like sulfur coupled with the toe jam of a Haitian long distance runner all evening. Result, no deviled eggs on my buffet.

I’m so in love with my new circle scarf I’m going to enter every one of Becky’s contests.
And maybe I’ll be the first to show you the Portlandia video, which reveals a great crafty tip: in Portland, you can put a bird on something and call it art!

ooops… forgot #2. I’ll take the necklace, it’ll go nicely with the scarf, thank you! I don’t want to be too greedy and ask for another scarf, even though it’s so cute.
Hey Becky,
To match your generosity I give you Joel Rakes’ website link. He gives away his own original music FREE, yes FREE! I hope you enjoy his music and maybe it helps alleiviate some of what’s on your pie chart. xoxo
I would LOVE the necklace or the wallet. They’re super fun just like you my friend.

It’s been my favorite Christmas song since I was 13 and could name every musician by sight and by voice. Bob Geldof was a real inspiration.
You have a big giant pie plate of worries, sister. Sorry the holidays can be such a cocksucker. Loving you from afar.
No slumping here. Not over indulging. Not traveling to see family. Just a nice, quiet, peaceful time with my immediate family.
Safe travels. Your suitors need to get a clue. Bummer about your car.
I love the wallets! You are so talented. I still have the ornaments that I bought from you last year. I didn’t want to give them away and kept them for myself.
Much love to you.
Here is a link to some “Resolutions”…..just to kick off the NYE hub-bub.
