something i love about working in a physics department …
… is getting email announcements like these:
The Women in Physics group will be sponsoring a liquid nitrogen ice cream social tomorrow in the third floor conference room.
All are welcome! Come play with cryogens and enjoy a delicious ice cream sundae!

It’s this sort of collective office cooperation revolving around sweets and such that brings an envious broth to brew upon my self-employed livelihood. You lucky little chemist. However, the email announcement didn’t specify what time the fun begins…
Is that like, a party where you eat ice cream and break things you’ve frozen in liquid nitrogen? That really is the best of both worlds, especially if you dip your ice cream cone into the liquid nitrogen. XOXO Violet
Can I come to your work and freeze stuff?
I don’t know! I don’t know! I didn’t go to this, so I am unclear on what exactly happened vis-a-vis freezing and ice cream. But Jeana, you are *always* welcome.
