Diary Entry: December 25 — Ages 14, 15, & 16

As part of my Advent Calendar project, I am presenting excerpts from my actual teenage diaries!

Age 14: I got jewelry and makeup from Mom, Talking Heads and Boomtown Rats records from my bro and sis, a cat calendar from Auntie, and more. We made up a punk water ballet in the pool. A really GREAT day today, really. So Christmas isn’t a complete wipeout when you get older.

Age 15: Merry Christmas, tra la, tra la. My brother is giving me pot for my Xmas present … no “boo” from me, I can’t wait!

Age 16: My stepsis bounded into my room at 8am, hitting me awake with pillows. Then we ripped downstairs, opened our stockings, then woke the whole household with our war (peace) whoops as we raced around. I got a WALKMAN! I already can’t imagine life without it. Sounds like a GRAND Christmas, eh wot?
