first quarterly report of 2011

It is apt that my end-of-first-quarter-2011 report (self-imposed) is late. I’m behind with everything; March kind of kicked my ass.

Anyways. Here is a roundup of the first 25% of this year of Goals, Challenges, and Regimens. Well, at least the workouts, the flossing, and headache monitoring.

Workouts in Hours – First Quarter 2011 (January 1-March 31)

First quarter 2011

Crazytime is my affectionate term for the “Step n Sculpt” class at the Y, taught by the tough tough Laurie. It is about 80 minutes of brutality, a mix of step (fast), step (slow, with weights), weightlifting, abs, and more weightlifting. I try to go twice a week.

I’m kind of phasing out Pilates and Zumba; I like both disciplines but with the longer daylight hours I’ve been opting for running instead.

Speaking of which, I only really started the running in the middle of February — unless something inside me cracks apart, I expect to accrue more hours next quarter.

So, 80 hours of exercise total for 90 days. I’d figure out the daily average but seriously, my brain is fried by all this math. I don’t even know if I did any of this right. Converting the runs from kilometers to miles then figuring out the average minutes per mile then converting the whole mess back to hours. Math is horrifying.

Flossing

I flossed (a 2010 resolution I’m continuing to keep) 77 out of 90 days. I really don’t know why I don’t floss on the days that I don’t floss. My night time regimen is pretty much identical from night to night, but I apparently just can’t be bothered to run some white string between my teeth sometimes.

Headaches

I have been struggling with menstrual migraines, so I track the timing and severity of flareups. See if you can spot a potential emerging pattern:

  • January: 1 impending migraine, two days after the end of menstrual cycle. Caught before becoming full-blown. 1 non-migraine headache the last day of the menstrual cycle.
  • February: 1 impending migraine, two days after the end of menstrual cycle. Caught before becoming full-blown. 1 non-migraine headache the last day of the menstrual cycle.
  • March: 1 impending migraine, two days after the end of menstrual cycle. Caught before becoming full-blown. 1 non-migraine headache the last day of the menstrual cycle.

And the Rest

I read a book in January and in February and in March. I might break from fiction for the next couple books.

I made a drawing and posted it in January. I made a drawing for February (but did not post it), did not do a drawing in March.

Writing every day has been surprisingly easy. I did keep a diary daily for years in my teenagerhood, so it seems to be a dormant skill that re-blooms quite easily.

So we do have that.

    Nice pie chart! hmmmm pie…
Use those floss pick thingies, way less of a hassle and then you can stick the pointy end between your teeth which is really good for your gums and shows you how much yuck is still in your teeth.
