My pals Moya and Leanne live-Twittered through their public broadcast viewing of the California Supreme Court’s hearing on gay marriage today — gripping stuff. They also live-flickred some of the more piquant images from in and around San Francisco City Hall, including “Recriminalize Sodomy!” and other charming bash-group signs.
One of the greatest gifts I have been given was to live in the Bay Area a majority of my adult life. The best aspect of all has been to encounter, meet, befriend, and make family a wide spectrum of people with a wide spectrum of views and takes on their lives and lifestyles.
So, for the gay issue: I really don’t care if you’re gay or straight or graight. One exception: if I’m personally interested in your penis, then I totally want to know.
And, though I’m somewhat ambivalent about the institution, anyone should be able to get married. I mean, come on; love is love.
I wish I could reach this level of full and serene indifference with everything. And, well, I wish everyone else could, too.
This whole gay marriage debate seems retro — shouldn’t this have happened already? Is it the in-the-name-of-Jesus headlock we’re stuck in the reason that progress is stalled?
That’s about as political I’ll get to you, here. I just know that Leanne and Moya’s wedding(s) were as valid and real as anything I’ve ever witnessed. So there.
