pinche packing

Hello, hello. I’m still here, alive and kicking. Perhaps not graceful, Rockettes-style kicks, maybe more like scruffy, street-fighting shots to the shin. Pow!

When you last left me I was a sad and sullen mess. Things looked up almost immediately afterwards, thanks to a remarkable trip to San Francisco then a birthday party (mine) that was so fun, so so fun.

I have a half-written account of my trip to SF and nothing at all to show for my birthday, save for lingering ankle stiffness (from the pointy shoes and the dancin’!) and love, lots of leftover love.

Once I made peace with my Major Life Transition (ie, my move to my elderly relative’s home), I was outraged to realize that tiny invisible fairies weren’t going to pack my home for me. Thanks gods for Violet, who came over a few days ago and packed up a good portion of my living room tchotchkes while I drank white wine and made a “Movin!” playlist on iTunes.

I have so much left to do, it’s just funny at this point. I am getting rid of a whole lot of quality crap (I do not lie when I say my dustcatchers are very stylish and visually appealing.) Come over and I’ll give it all to you. And I’ll order a pizza! Then hand you bubble wrap and packing tape. Wait, where are you going?

I got all hopped up and inspired to write a blog post after sniffing about Mimi Smartypants’ archives but all you get is the ramblings of an exhausted procrastinator. Sorry.

Thank you to everyone that gave me wonderful, warm support and pep talks over the past few weeks. Thanks to the others of you that attended my prom. Thank you to the San Franciscans who filled me full of food and Harvey Wallbangers and mirth. Thank you to the number-crunching lady who found money in the budget to buy me a MacBook Pro. Most of you appear in more than one category above, which makes me thank you even harder.

I finally got to go to the prom of my dreams!

You Go Girl! Although, because we don’t do Prom in Canada I don’t quiet get the whole “do Prom or die” thing. But if it made you happy – I’m happy for you.

The prom party sounded ridiculously fun. The moving party does not. Ah, the balance of life. Your photo is so dreamy!
