Alley Garbage - by Law

It’s Blog Action Day:

On October 15th, bloggers around the web will unite to put a single important issue on everyone’s mind – the environment. Every blogger will post about the environment in their own way and relating to their own topic. Our aim is to get everyone talking towards a better future.

I have a deep sadness about the condition of our earth. And worse, a deeper pessimism about it ever getting better. I cannot even begin to convey my disappointment at the continual it couldn’t get worse, could it? oop, yes, it’s so much worse free-fall feeling that has been my life, my entire life.

Pull out, zoom in: it sucks at every view. Three G0rges D@m: holy shit. Losing count of the SUVs roaring past me: yuck. The thick pile of shiny, screaming coupons and circulars that are stuffed in my mailbox every single day: fuck fuck fuck.

So, I recycle those circulars and cringe at my commute and pray that not too many thousands of people will die when they complete the world’s worst civil project.

I simply cannot feel happy nor proactive when asked to think about this. And understand: it’s not glibness, it’s hopelessness with a nice hard shell of cynicism.

At least we haven’t been nuked*. We have that.

*Yet.

Here’s to hopelessness with a nougat center and a crunchy shell of chocolatey cynicism all wrapped up in a colorful and entertaining and crinkly wrapper. I bet it sits at the sticky crumbed bottom of our purses for a long time, until we’re at the beach one day and our purse falls over and the now somewhat less colorfully wrapped hoplessness somehow manages to be free, free until it is swept into the ocean.

At least an unsuspecting sea gull hasn’t mistaken it for a colorful fish and choked on it*.
