bitter sweet boozy

I’m thumb-typing this into my McPhone (this hotel charges for Internet usage, boo, down with The Man). Actually I’m typing this in the hotel room’s bathroom whilst soaking my feet in cold water in the tub. The feet are deservedly sore after an epic slog through the Superfreakout Fashion District today. How I love the F.D. and its insane delights.

The afternoon an evening were punctuated by stops in various drinking establishments, good ones, too; bartenders who really care making superb cocktails from the finest of ingredients. Pictured is a Cole’s American Trilogy, my consolation prize fir the fact that Cole’s, known for their Pimms Cups, was out of Pimms. This was delicious and full of a delicious bittery/sweety that seems to be the throughline in every drink I’ve had during this minivacation. I really, really like the single, huge, handcut chunk of ice in the glass; this was seen I several venues.

In case you were worried for me, I did indeed have one (okay, two) Pimms Cups in an extraordinary bar in Hollywood called the Cat & the Fiddle. Very beautiful locale; we sat in a courtyard in the warm evening air and watched the Beautiful People come and go.

I had a too bittery/sweety cocktail in an otherwise wonderful bar right next to our hotel in Santa Monica. My so-so cocktail experience was made better by fresh hot fries and supercute bartenders who looked like they dropped in from 1940.

Smartly, that was the end of my voyage on the sea of booze. But I have a feeling another vessel will depart at another point in the near future, with me on it. Toot toot!
