comments on shopping.
Some observations after my stereotypical retail therapy spree:
- This is a very good time to find jackets, especially leather and/or winter ones, at the thrifts. A hot day in SoCal — those babies aren’t going anywhere except into my greedy hands. And I found a leather jacket that is almost perfect and was $24. I admit I will miss my addiction to bidding on wrong leather jackets on eBay. I’m sorry, there is no picture at this time. It’s so hot, I just can’t deal.
- Ventura has an international reputation for having great thrift stores; every local knows this is an outdated and highly inflated sentiment. But I do have to admit there’s a lot of them, and I have been scoring excellent scores lately, so maybe there’s a second-hand renaissance afoot? I mean, it’s nothing like the thrifts of the 80s, but what is?
- Old Navy, who knew? I bought a Groupon for that store in a moment of stereotypical internet shopping. So off I went to the (blurg) mall and oh my god! Great stuff! There were racks, liberally sprinkled around the store, with merch that was 75% off. I bought many unstructured items made of thin cotton so this summer doesn’t kill me. Plus a blue twill jacket for 8 bucks.
- PS, I can stop ANYTIME with the jacket buying, I swear (twitch twitch)
- I am going camping this weekend and could not find one camp chair when the stores are usually wormy with camp chairs. C’mon people, cough up the camp chairs!
