that’ll show ‘em
I took my Elderly Relative to the urologist. I will not share with you the uncomfortable details, including the getting to hear the latest in Urology Humor.
I will share my frustration with how thoughtlessly the doctor and the other medical personnel treated my relative over two appointments, leading to anger and embarrassment and total confusion. The doctor breezed through the exam, barely able to spare a moment to ask or answer questions for my slow-to-comprehend and very frightened relative. At one point, as I was helping my relative change back into his clothes, something unexpected and very distressing happened, something we were not warned about. When I rushed out of the exam room to get aid, one of the medical assistants shrugged at me and intimated that we were overreacting.
Well, that did it. On our way out, through the waiting room, I stole the office’s copy of Better Homes & Gardens.
I get most angry when I hear about elder indifference. It’s the one instance that I revisit a faith-based hope and “pray” that there is such a thing as bitter karma.
