feed frenzy: overload
I guess this has turned into a multi-parter post, as I’m going to embark on de-cluttering my Google Reader. This is part one.
Okay, too many blogs to which I subscribe. By the way, I use Google Reader, as you should too (if you don’t already) so you can read blogs the easy way. If you are all confused by aggregators and feeds and RSS and the like, email me privately; I am very good at explaining it and taking you through the steps.
On the other side of the same coin: do not do as I did (just as I say) — do not subscribe to crazy amounts of blogs! You can hurt your head!
Are you ready for how many blogs to which I subscribe? 252. I know. That’s crazy hoarder lady a lot.
That does not mean that I read every single one of these blogs, and a few have gone dormant. But still, jeezus. Time to prune.
Here are the folder categories to try to keep some organization atop the madness:
- Art
- Aural (music, that is)
- Blogs – general (where my friends live, mostly)
- Craft
- Design – home/self (interior design and fashion, that is)
- Design – web
- News
- News – fun (like BoingBoing)
- News – tech
- Nonprofit
- [the name of my organization, which publishes blog and iTunes feeds]
- Tech gadgets (mostly shopping sites that publish deals for electronics)
- Vlogs (omg, that is adorably antiquated)
- Whee (blogs that review games that I like to play online)
So, next I’m going on a drastic blog diet and getting that 252 under control. More later.
And you have chance to comment on mine sometimes – I feel very privileged lol.
Miss Lady! I need your help! I have 291 subscriptions! They are all categorized but I can’t help having a feeling of overwhelm whenever I see all those “unread items.” I look forward to seeing how you trim the fat!
xoxo Han!
Tristy, I am familiar with these feelings of overwhelm. I tell you, I am finding it harrrrd to trim that fat, even though I know how fat the fat is!!
